Walther PDP Optics Ready Plates: 1.0 and 2.0 Versions Explained

If you got yourself Walther PDP, you must have noticed two things. First, it has optics ready slide. Second, you do not have optics ready plate.

So now you are facing a problem of which plate to get, and there are two main questions to consider:

  • Which version of Walther PDP do you have?
    • And here I do not mean PDP Compact, PDP Steel Frame or PDP F-Series etc.
  • What red dot do you want to install on it?
    • Because each red dot requires specific adapter plate, so I explain how to get the correct one.

Two types of Walther PDP pistols [1.0 and 2.0] - two types of optics ready plates

Walther never actually named any of their PDP pistols "1.0" or "2.0". These names came from gun community to distinguish the two versions of the PDP models:

  • the older version, which was produced from 2021 to 2022;
  • and the newer version, which is still being made from 2022 up until today.

So basically the whole questions here is - was your Walther made in 2021, or was it made in 2022 or later. Why does it matter? Because when you try to mount a plate to your PDP, the older versions usde different type of mounting plates than the newer ones. So to get the right optics ready plate, you need to know which version of PDP do you have.

Which optics ready plate to buy

You can find out which version do you have (1.0 or 2.0) by simply removing the optics ready cover, and look what is underneath.

Walther PDP 1.0 optics ready cut

If it has smooth surface, it is version 1.0 and you need to be looking for plates that we offer in this category.

Walther PDP 2.0 optics ready cut

If it has a surface full of grooves, you have version 2.0 and thus need to be looking for plates that we offer in this category.

Which plate to get based on the red dot

So now you know whether you need to get plate for PDP 1.0 or PDP 2.0. But there is second question - which of the plates exactly to get. Because there are quite a few for both of these types.

This question is also not difficult to answer. Which plate to get depends on which red dot do you want to install on your PDP. The thing is that most red dots use one of the 6 or 7 most common red dot footprint standards.

So, either you can write us which plate to get based on the red dot that you have, and we will let you know. Or you can simply check those available plates and see if the red dot is listed among the compatible ones.

If you are about to get a new red dot together with the plate, it is even easier. Just click on the links of compatible red dots that are visible on each of the available optics ready plates. Those two products will fit together 100%.
