What to consider
An adapter adds height between the slide and the red dot. The red dot sits higher, and your iron sights may no longer co-witness through the window. Most adapters are made of aluminium, and most come with screws.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need a footprint adapter?
When the footprint of your red dot does not match your plate, mount or optic cut, and there is no plate for your red dot.
Do I need longer screws?
Most adapters come with screws. For the Shield RMSc to Holosun K-series adapter, you may need to shorten the original screws slightly.
Does the red dot sit higher with an adapter?
Yes. The adapter adds its own height, so co-witness sights may no longer line up with the dot.
