How do adapters differ?

And here I do not mean the difference between optics ready plates and dovetail red dot mounts.

I mean the difference within one category (for example, Optics Ready plates for CZ pistols), adapters can differ by:

• manufacturer,
• materials and build quality,
• and the red dots they support (most important).

*If an adapter is shown in your category, it is compatible with your gun.

**Sometimes you will find more adapters with the same compatibility. In that case, choose the brand you prefer.

The key difference: red dot compatibility

The most important detail is which red dots each adapter supports.

Since the adapter finder above only helps you to find the right adapter for your gun but not for your red dot, you have to do the second part by yourself. 

How? Read further.

If you already have a pistol and a red dot

Find out what footprint your red dot uses, then look for an adapter with the same footprint. Always double-check the list of compatible red dots on the product page.

Some adapters are “universal” and allow multiple footprints. In those cases, you will find the full compatibility list in the product description.

If you only have a pistol and want both: adapter + red dot

This is even simpler. Pick any compatible adapter, then choose a red dot from its list of supported models. If a red dot name is underlined, we also have it available on our website.

Optics Ready plate or Dovetail mount?

The adapter finder above will send you to the category where are compatible adapters - whether it is optics ready plates, or dovetail red dot mounts.

If you want to know the difference between different types of adapters, here it is:

• For a slide thas is factory cut - you need an Optics Ready plate.
• For classic "old school" pistol without slide cut -  you need a dovetail red dot mount.
