This collection contains red dot mounts for 1911 pistols. The mount replaces the rear sight in its dovetail. You need no slide milling and no permanent modifications. On a 1911, the right mount depends mainly on the rear sight cut of the slide.
Find your rear sight cut
1911 makers use different rear sight cuts. A mount for one cut does not fit another. The mounts in this collection are sorted by cut:
The cut is usually named by the maker of the pistol or of its factory sights. If you are not sure, compare your rear sight with the product photos.

Footprints
Toni System uses type letters for sets of footprints. Type A fits Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Docter. Type B fits Trijicon RMR and C-More RTS.
EGW type S fits Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Holosun K-series. Single-footprint mounts name only the footprint in the title.
Makers and materials
EGW in the USA and Toni System in Italy machine their 1911 mounts from aluminium. Shield Sights in the United Kingdom makes mounts in aluminium and in brass and polymer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a red dot on my 1911 without an optic cut?
Yes. The mount goes into the rear sight dovetail in place of the rear sight. No milling and no permanent changes, so you can put the rear sight back at any time.
Can I install the mount at home?
Yes, if you have a sight pusher or a punch.
- Drift the rear sight out of the dovetail.
- Push the mount into the dovetail and tighten it.
- Screw the red dot onto the mount with a drop of threadlocker on each screw.
You find the tools in Installation tools.
Which red dots will fit?
It depends on the mount you choose. Every mount takes one footprint or a group of footprints. For 1911 we have mounts for the Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, Holosun K-series, Leupold DPP, Docter and C-More RTS footprints.
Find the footprint of your red dot in its specifications and take the mount that names it.
How do I find the rear sight cut of my 1911?
Look at the specifications of your pistol or ask its maker. The common cuts are Novak, LPA, BoMar, G.I. and Kimber. A mount fits only the cut named in its title.
Does the Tanfoglio Witness 1911 mount fit the Custom?
No. The Witness 1911 Custom needs a different mount.
